Adam Paroussos is a composer, sound designer and performer for film and performance. He has worked internationally on films and projects including dramas, documentary, comedy, experimental and multimedia. He investigates the boundaries between composition and sound design, drawing inspiration from the natural world and improvisation. He builds scores through both experimental and traditional production processes and composition techniques.

Adam is a self taught composer with a background in experimental theatre and now predominately works in film. Collaboration is at the root of his practice and enjoys working closely with a director during the filmmaking process. He has experience and interest in creating music and sound for site-specific work and engaging in group devised theatre work.

As a multi-instrumentalist and sound artist he finds sounds and music within collected instruments and objects, electronic processing, synthesizers, field recordings, samples and more. His musical style has a somewhat handmade and organic quality as if spooling out of the ground or unraveling from the sky. There is a sense that the music and sound is alive reacting with and against the film or performance, both resonating and distorting within the storytelling. He may build a core auditory idea that radiates out of a central character or a subtext theme. He often finds the harmonies within imperfections and sonic artefacts and reveals melodies within interwoven musical threads and roots.

Recent works include music for 'MADHOUSE' by Far Away Films, sound design for ‘Tornado Watch’ 2023 Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space. Sound design and compositions for ‘Have a Nice Day Forever’ selected for the official competition at the Music & Cinema - Festival International du Film à  Marseille (MCM). Awarded 'Best Sound and Music' for 'Viscera' at the Style, Experimental, Fashion Film Festival, Los Angeles.
